I’ve been visiting Bluff Point to walk my pup, go for a run or take my mountain bike our for a spin several times a week since we moved to the Mystic area back in June. I love the sights, smells and feel of that forest. I can’t say enough good things about it! I was so glad to discover a place that gave me such peace when first moving to a new home town.
There are multiples reasons why I love Bluff Point. For one, there’s a few different trail options, so you can visit the same convenient and familiar place and not have to do the same walk each time.
The waterside views and beach access are also a huge plus. In addition to runners, walkers of furry friends and mamas with baby strollers, there’s also a number of kayakers and paddle boarders who take advantage of the calm waters fringing on the trail. The point itself offers stunning views of the ocean – sailboats, fisherman and – if you’re there at the right time – lovely sunsets.
I also love that there’s a rather large picnic area for gathering with friends or meeting up with other bikers and runners. The trail is fairly flat, and not too long – around 3 1/2 miles for a loop. I would definitely recommend bringing some water if you plan to do the whole trail.
Happy exploring!
