The Mystic River is at the heart of our little “non-existent” town, and serves as the divider between Groton and Stonington. If you’re not aware, Mystic is not really a town – it’s two! Unified by a common USPS zip code.
On a typical sunny day, the vista from the bridge is a stunning sight – sapphire water dotted with paddle boarders and sailboats, fringed by swaying trees and charming homes. It’s no wonder that Mystic is such a draw for so many tourists.
My favorite time to be on the river is during dusk, especially when the sky is clear and the moon is beginning to glow in the sky. The colors are serene, and the scene inspires feelings of peace and tranquility. Strolling along the river you might wander into live music, a wedding or even end up touring a new yacht! It’s so worth it to get out and explore this beautiful part of town.
